Grunts Make Statement in Clay Trap Season

Father Vincent Capodanno High School Makes Statement in Inaugural Clay Trap Season

The Father Vincent Capodanno High School Shooting Team closed out its first-ever season in the NC High School Clay Trap League with performances that turned heads across the state.

Leading the charge was Henry Debruhl, who claimed 1st place overall among all male shooters in North Carolina. Debruhl sealed his championship run with a flawless 25/25 in his final round, followed by a 24/25, delivering a dominant performance when it was most needed.

EJ Wild added to the team’s success with a strong, consistent season that earned him 5th place overall in the boys division.

In the girls division, Ella Wild—who only picked up shooting sports for the first time this past fall—finished an impressive 4th overall statewide. Her rapid rise from newcomer to top-tier competitor has been one of the standout stories of the season.

For a program in its inaugural year, Capodanno’s early success has set a high bar and generated real excitement.

The team now turns its focus to the NC State Championships in Cherryville, NC on June 6th, where they’ll look to build on this momentum and make an impact on the biggest stage of the year.

A remarkable debut season for the Grunts, and they’re just getting started.
