Weekly Bogeys Recap - June 8 - 14

The Bogeys are 8-2 overall to begin the season and 4-2 in the division. The two divisional losses put the Bogeys 1 game back and in third place behind Jacksonville, who is 8-1 (5-1), and Shallotte, who is 5-2 (5-2).

The Bogeys started the week off on Sunday with a loss on the road against Hope Mills Rockfish, 8-2. Hope Mills got on the board early, scoring 4 runs in the first three innings and another four runs in the fifth. The Bogeys two runs came in the eighth. Both teams had two errors. Joel Camp pitched three innings, giving up four hits and striking out two batters. Jacob Wells pitched four innings and gave up five hits, walked three, and sat down two. Kaden Wimsatt pitched one inning, giving up four hits and four runs.

Monday- the Bogeys got a road win at Oak Island 12-6. The bats were hot for the Bogeys, getting 12 hits. Oak Island recorded four errors. Luke Treece went 4 for 4, earning one RBI and scoring one run.

Tuesday- The Bogeys earned another road win in Laurinburg against the Highland Hooligans, 4-2. The Bogeys scored in the first before going scoreless in four innings. They out-hit the Hooligans 9-4. Mogan Padgett went 2 for 3 and was walked once and earned one RBI. JD Scarbrough went 1 for 2 with a walk. He had one RBI and scored three times.

Wednesday- The Bogeys came back to their home field to take on their alter egos and defeated the Pinehurst Caddy Daddies 5-3. These games are fun and action packed and fans can participate with some of the fun rule changes.

Thursday- The Bogeys traveled to Hope Mills and came away with a 17-4 win over the Rockfish. The Bogeys got the bats going in the first inning, scoring three runs, but their biggest inning of the season so far came in the third with 10 runs. Logan Dyer got three hits and walked twice. He earned one RBI and scored two runs. Peyton Starkey went 4 for 5 with one RBI and scored two runs. On the mound, James Eason pitched six innings, giving up 10 hits, four runs, and striking out three batters.

Saturday- Shallotte Shallywags came to the Sandhills and gave the Bogeys their second loss. Despite three errors, the Shallywags came out on top with nine hits in their 4-2 win. The Bogeys had six hits coming from Padgett (2), Scarbrough (1), Honeycutt (2), and Hunt (1). Five pitchers took the mound for the Bogeys, with four pitchers all giving up one run: Laird (2 IP), Mitchell (4 IP), Wells (1 IP), and Wimsatt (1 IP). Laird gave up two hits and earned three strikeouts, Mitchell gave up three hits and earned two strikeouts, Wells and Wimsatt gave up two hits, and Dyer pitched one inning.

Next week’s home schedule: Monday, in a rain makeup game, Laurinburg Highland Hooligans come to town at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Rockfish will come to Bogey Park at 7 p.m., and on Saturday, Laurinburg will visit the Bogeys at 7 p.m.

Away schedule for this week: On Wednesday, the Bogeys will travel to Jacksonville with a 12:35 p.m. first pitch, on Thursday, they will travel to Laurinburg at 7 p.m., on Friday to Shallotte at 7 p.m., and on Sunday to Jacksonville at 5 p.m.
