Pinecrest had a week filled with big moments, including a conference championship and several tightly contested matchups.
The Patriots soccer team was the headline story, remaining unbeaten in conference play. They defeated Hoke County 2-0, tied Richmond 0-0, and finished at 15-0-4 (9-0-1) to secure the Mid-South Conference Championship with a few games remaining.
Girls lacrosse continued its dominant season with an 18-10 win over Myers Park, maintaining a perfect record.
Boys lacrosse added a strong road win, edging East Chapel Hill 5-4, while earlier in the week they defeated Cape Fear 9-1 12-4 (8-2).
Baseball had a competitive week but came up short in two close games against Richmond, falling 6-5 and 4-0, moving to 18-7 (12-3). For the first time since 2016 Moore Counties rival, Richmond took home a Conference Title in Baseball.
Softball also faced Richmond twice, dropping both contests 12-7 and 10-0, bringing their record to 8-12 (2-8).
In tennis, the No. 6 seeded dual team fell 5-1 to Apex Friendship in the opening round of the state playoffs.
Track and field capped off the week as conference champions, after their meet was rescheduled to Thursday.
Despite some tough losses, Pinecrest’s conference title in soccer and championship performance in track highlighted a strong overall week. Soccer and Lacrosse are still in their regular season next week, while baseball and softball brackets will be released this Sunday.
