Pinecrest had a busy week across multiple sports, highlighted by deep playoff runs in baseball and soccer, plus a standout performance at the regional track meet.
The #7 baseball team saw its postseason run come to an end in the second round of the NCHSAA 8A playoffs, falling 5-1 at #2 Myers Park. The Patriots finished the season 19-8 after another strong year.
In boys lacrosse, Pinecrest dropped a close road matchup at Northwood, 11-10, to finish the regular season at 12-7 overall and 8-2 in conference play. The Patriots earned a sixth ranking in the 8A West and will host 11th ranked West Forsyth in the opening round on Tuesday. Third ranked Ardrey is waiting to face the winner in the second round on Friday.
Girls lacrosse closed out a perfect regular season in dominant fashion, defeating Seaforth 18-10 on the road. The Patriots finished undefeated at 18-0 overall and 8-0 in conference play. The top ranked Lady Patriots earned a first round BYE and will watch to see if they will host #8 Northwest Guilford or #9 Green Level in the second round on Friday.
Soccer split its week, falling 2-1 at Southern Lee before ending the regular season on a high note with a 2-1 win over Terry Sanford. Pinecrest finished the regular season 16-1-4 overall and 9-0-1 in conference play. The ladies will take the first round BYE to prepare and host #6 Northwest Guilford or #11 Mallard Creek in the second round Thursday.
The biggest highlight of the week came at the West Regional Track & Field Championships at Palesides High School, where Pinecrest delivered a major team performance. The boys finished 3rd overall and the girls placed 4th, with multiple athletes qualifying for the state meet across sprint, distance, relay, and field events. The following will compete in the State Championship.
