Viking Weekly Recap: April 25
Another dominant week for Union Pines, with multiple programs continuing to roll—highlighted by an undefeated softball team and a huge performance in conference tennis.
Softball remained perfect, picking up three more wins over Lee County (15-0, 16-3) and Apex (19-1). The Vikings improved to 21-0 overall and 14-0 in conference, officially securing the conference regular season championship.
Soccer was just as impressive, going 3-0 on the week with wins over Lee County (2-0, 7-0) and Cedar Ridge (2-0). They now sit at 15-4-1 overall and 11-0 in conference play, still unbeaten.
On the lacrosse field, the boys team stayed perfect, highlighted by a 20-0 win over Cape Fear and a 13-12 thriller over Pinecrest, improving to 14-0 (8-0). The girls team split results, falling to Pinecrest to move to 4-4 (4-2).
Baseball added a strong 4-1 win over Lee County and later an 11-1 victory, improving to 16-8 overall (3-3 conference).
In tennis, Union Pines had one of the biggest storylines of the week.
Lane McPherson dominated his way to the conference singles championship, earning MVP honors and capturing his second conference title.
Dominic Roett and Jace McPherson advanced to the doubles finals before finishing runner-up.
Track and field athletes also made noise, with multiple Moore County top finishes, including strong performances from Andrew Davis, JoJo Mariah Bethune, Savannah McCaskill, and Kaylin Bryant.
